A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

Good questions.
Simple answers.

What is the difference between markup and margin?+

Markup is profit measured against your cost. Margin is profit measured against your selling price. A 50% markup produces a 33.33% margin.

Can I use this for VAT, GST, or sales tax?+

Yes. Choose a country preset or enter your own rate. The toolkit calculates the tax amount and the final price. Always confirm the rate and rules that apply to your business.

Is the South African salary result a payslip or tax advice?+

No. It is a planning estimate using the SARS 2026/27 individual rates, age rebates and medical-scheme fees credits. PAYE withholding can differ because of bonuses, benefits, retirement deductions, other income and payroll-specific rules. Confirm your position with SARS or a registered tax practitioner.

Are my salary and deduction inputs uploaded?+

No. Salary, age band, medical-scheme count, UIF choice and optional deductions are held in this page’s browser memory only. They are not included in usage events and are not saved; refreshing the page clears them.
